Military Student Mentoring is a school-based mentoring program for military connected youth. Volunteers spend lunchtime with their “Littles” once a week at one of these local elementary schools: Evergreen Forest, Meadows, Seven Oaks, and Woodland Elementary schools.

We are in need of mentors for the 2017-2018 school year.

This is a pilot program funded by a $1.3 million grant from the US Department of Education. North Thurston Public Schools and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Washington were the only ones selected in the country to participate in the program. Researchers from multiple universities will study the effects that school based mentoring has on behavior and academic performance of children of service members.
